Beads & Boards founders Janice and Franck were charmed by the East End in late 2010. Franck who grew up in Paris, and Janice, a Connecticut native, both fell in love. They brought their love of nature, wood, gem stones, style and design sensibilities to Flanders, in Southampton, their new L.I. home.

For Janice, each piece comes to life based on the unique materials she is able to find. “The gems and crystals just speak to me”. Before deciding on design or pattern, she thinks about how a piece will be used and with what it may be worn. Once she’s ready to design, she treats the stones like a broad palette, carefully curating color, texture and shape to make each creation unique.

For Franck, he gets most inspired by solving a pattern challenge - criss crossing cuts and creating combinations with wood that is regular, rare or reclaimed - resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces that evolve as his process evolves.
